Dr. Michelle K. Johnston is the Gaston Chair of Business at Loyola University New Orleans, where she teaches leadership and strategic communication classes to MBA and undergraduate students.

Michelle has received teaching and research awards in the field of leadership and business communication. Her recent research found a positive link between a Team’s Listening Environment (TLE) and financial performance. In addition, she developed the Communication Preference Profile, an inventory that she uses to help individuals and teams improve their performance through better communication.

Michelle has served or currently serves as a leadership coach with organizations such as Ochsner Health, MaxHome, Imperial Trading Company, The Times-Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate, The Young Presidents Organization, JP Morgan Chase, McGlinchey Stafford Law Firm, and Pfizer Pharmaceutical.
 
While working with executives, Michelle gathered data on the characteristics of successful leaders. Her book, titled The Seismic Shift in Leadership: How to Thrive in a New Era of Connection, is based on her research and was published on 2/22/2022.
 
Dr. Michelle Johnston is the Chase Minority Entrepreneurship Professor of Management in the College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans where she teaches leadership communication classes to MBA and undergraduate students.
